Every painting company needs an office manager. Almost none can afford one.

Someone to answer the estimate request that came in while you were on a ladder. Chase the quote you sent Tuesday. Get the invoice paid without three awkward phone calls. Ask the happy customer for the review. Call last spring's customers before somebody else does.

Right now that person is you, at nine at night. Or that person doesn't exist, and the job quietly goes to whoever answered first. Often a painter who bought the same lead you did, from a site that sold it to three of you.

Supernila is that hire.

Why I built this

I live in Ridgefield, Connecticut, with my wife and our two kids.

After two decades building products & solutions across technology, healthcare, life sciences, including 6 years leading global go-to-market innovations for a Fortune 500 company right here in town, I saw an opportunity to bring that enterprise-level expertise home.

Then Covid pushed almost every buying decision online, and it stayed there. I watched what that did to the businesses around me. The ones that struggled weren't worse at their work. Their work was better, and their customers liked them more. They were losing to franchises with a go-to-market budget and a team whose entire job was being visible.

That isn't a fair fight, and it has nothing to do with craft.

I don't believe a local business owner should have to become a marketer, a salesperson and an office administrator just to keep the business he already built. I believe that work should get done for him, so he can stay on the part he's actually good at: the craft and the customer standing in front of him.

That's what Supernila is for. Painting is where we're doing it first.

Arun Thachi, founder

The business runs after the workday ends.

The crew goes home at five. Then the second shift starts: the estimate request from this afternoon, the quote nobody replied to, the invoice that's three weeks out, the listing that still has last year's hours, the customer from last April who is about to hire someone else.

Some months the phone rings. Some months it doesn't. Referrals thin out over the winter. Angi, Thumbtack and HomeAdvisor will happily sell you a homeowner and sell that same homeowner to your competitors at the same time. And the crew still needs jobs booked for next week.

None of this is the work. All of it decides whether the work keeps coming.

Meet Nila.

Nila is the AI assistant inside Supernila. She's built to do the office job for a painting company. We'll always tell you which parts of it she's doing today.

Working now

She helps your business get found when a homeowner nearby searches. She answers the estimate request the moment it lands and captures the project details. And she follows up on a set schedule until the homeowner replies.

Being built

The rest of the job: calling last season's customers back, chasing the quote that's gone quiet, keeping the invoice from aging another month.

Never

She doesn't price your work, meet your homeowner, or post anything you haven't approved. Every request goes to your business and stays there. We don't resell it, share it, or route it anywhere else. You price the job. You close it.

What we believe

Do the work, don't hand it back.

Software that gives an owner a dashboard and a checklist has moved the work, not removed it. Nila does the repeatable part and reports what happened.

The relationship is yours.

Your customers, your list, your voice. Nila drafts; nothing goes public or gets sent without your say. If you ever leave, you take all of it with you.

Why painting, and why we're in no hurry to leave.

A mission you can't execute is a slogan. You can write generic marketing for anybody. You cannot run a business generically.

An estimate request for interior trim is not an estimate request for a deck stain. A painting season is not a plumbing season. Knowing when to call a customer back, what to ask before quoting, and what "ready to schedule" means. That's trade knowledge, and it's the difference between an assistant who helps and one who has to be corrected.

So we build for painting companies. Not home services. Not local business in general. Painting. Every feature we've shipped, we shipped because a painting company asked for it.

If we ever do this for another trade, it will be because painters told us we'd earned it.

More estimate requests. Less chasing.
